The word “TINAPA” means Tilapia fish. It is a place for business and pleasure which is located in Calabar north, south eastern Nigeria. It is a 4 phase project that is controlled by private public company founded on april 2, 2007 by the then governor Donald Duke and was commissioned by the then president of the nation Olushegun Obasanjo.it was established as a way of boosting business and tourism in Cross River state. Tinapa is located by Calabar River contiguous with the Calabar free trade zone. Tinapa has a ma- made lake which started from Calabar River.
MODE OF OPERATION AND MAJOR ACTIVITY
TINAPA is open to the public and offers services in pleasure and business. Also it offers a platform to individuals who want to do business.
BIOLOGICAL RELEVANCE OF THE FACILITY
TINAPA is important biologically as it has a man-made lake which has many characteristics for study. Also the lake which has a depth of 5m and flows into the Atlantic Ocean though man-made serves as habitat for other aquatic organisms. The man-made lake has a great tidal wave and there is much occurrence of overturn in the lake which causes proper mixing of the lake
Tinapa has a weather condition that is peculiar to it and not even the state as a whole and this has been attributed to the fact that it is been surrounded by a body of water as some conditions experienced there are not same as those experience in the town of calabar.
PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES OF ESTABLISHING SIMILAR VENTURE IN MAKURDI
Prospect
It will provide an avenue for foreign investors to invest into venture there by making Makudi an economically sound city in the nearest future.
Challenges
It requires a large expense of land to establish such venture sin Makurdi which will reduce the and for agriculture and the cause a friction between the Government and the people

The environment was clean and the structure were well organized

There were no shuttle cabs inside the premises to take people around.
